(Boise) – Steven Francis, an inmate at Idaho’s Maximum Security Institution, was sentenced to an additional five years yesterday, Attorney General Lawrence Wasden said. Fourth District Judge Ronald Wilper also ordered Francis to pay a $1,500 fine and $519 in restitution.
Francis, 33, pleaded guilty on December 17, 2007, to one count of battery on a corrections officer, a felony. By pleading guilty, Francis admitted that he head-butted an Ada County jailer during a court proceeding on May 3, 2007. Francis is currently serving a prison sentence until 2047 for grand theft and to prior counts of battery on corrections officers. His earliest parole date is 2023.
The Attorney General’s Special Prosecutions Unit handled the case at the request of Ada County Prosecutor Greg Bower. Deputy Attorney General Josh Taylor prosecuted the case.
