Sheriff had enough evidence to charge Meridian man with killing wife

Ada County Sheriff Gary Raney says detectives had enough evidence to prove that Mark Newby killed his wife by pushing her off a Foothills cliff in April, but they were not able to arrest him before he committed suicide Wednesday night.

Raney said the 46-year-old Mark Newby likely shot himself around the same time detectives were serving a search warrant to look for evidence at the couple’s home at 7980 S. Chisum Way in Meridian.
