POWER RESTORED BUT SCHOOLS WILL REMAIN CLOSED

Posted on: February 16, 2007

February 16, 2007

At 6:50 this morning, the Pocatello/Chubbuck School District made the decision to close Century High School and Indian Hills Elementary School. Both schools were without power, because power lines were blown down by high winds during the night. The schools will remain closed for the rest of the day.

Power was restored to both facilities at approximately 8:50 a.m. Since the buildings had been without power and without heat most of the night, it will take several hours to reheat them. It was determined that the buildings are too cold to hold classes.

Therefore, both schools will remain closed today. Parents have been asked to pick up children who had already walked or been transported to the schools.

Monday, February 19th is President’s Day holiday and all schools will be closed. All schools will be in regular session on Tuesday, February 20th.
