STATE SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS, TOM LUNA, TO VISIT POCATELLO/CHUBBUCK SCHOOL DISTRICT
State Superintendent of Schools, Tom Luna, is scheduled to visit the Pocatello/Chubbuck School District on Friday, February 23, 2007. Mr. Luna will visit Hawthorne Middle school from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m.
“The school district is honored that Mr. Luna made visiting a Pocatello school a priority so early in his position as state superintendent” said district superintendent Mary Vagner. We look forward to building a positive relationship him.”
Mr. Luna requested to visit a school in the district. Hawthorne Middle School has a heterogeneous group of students in middle grades. The school also offers unique clubs, overseen by teachers and counselors, which are held outside the normal instructional day. These clubs provide meaningful activities where students build positive relationships with adults.
The school recently held a celebration of academic success and attendance. The celebration recognized and rewarded every student with a 3.0 or better grade point average and those with perfect attendance. More than 53 percent of the student body received recognition.
Mrs. Vagner will accompany Mr. Luna on his visit to the school.
