The Pocatello/Chubbuck School District will celebrate American Education Week, November 12 – 16, 2007. This year’s theme is Great Public Schools: A Basic Right and Our Responsibility. We are celebrating the right of every child in this country to receive a quality education. This celebration highlights the importance of partnerships between schools, parents, students, businesses, and communities to build great public schools. We will spotlight all the people who partner to make our schools a great learning experience for our children and share our vision which: empowers all students to attain high levels of learning and become responsible, contributing citizens in a democratic setting and where each student will demonstrate academic and technological competency, develop an appreciation for the arts, and acquire the skills necessary to live a healthy lifestyle.
In honor of Veterans Day on Monday, November 12th, we will begin our American Education Week activities on Tuesday, November 13th and allow our schools and students to celebrate with and for our service people.
Tuesday, November 13th – is Invite Parents to School Day. Parents are invited to spend time at school to emphasize the importance of parental involvement in our schools and in students’ learning. Individual schools have activities planned for parents and their children throughout the week.
Wednesday, November 14th – is Staff Recognition Day. The Pocatello/Chubbuck School District and Pocatello Education Association will recognize our dedicated school district staff that carry out our mission of “Maximizing Learning for all students through Rigor, Relevancy and Relationships” Whatever It Takes.
Thursday, November 15th – Principal for a Day. We invite community and business leaders to spend a day, a half-day, or even a few hours shadowing principals in our schools. This provides an opportunity for our school administrators to build relationships with our businesses and our community. It also provides our business and community leaders the opportunity to participate in the day to day operation of our schools.
