It has been argued, the President of the United States is the single most powerful person on the planet. The motive for those seeking to hold the office could easily be questioned. And that question would be “Are you insane?!” The upcoming presidential election in 2008 has got potential candidates crawling out of the woodwork. It would not be surprising to hear the true father of the Dannielynn Smith plans on running for the position. It shouldn’t be hard to understand how the nation is in for a long and bumpy ride. And once it is all over will the country have a real leader?
There are several problems with anyone who wants to be president. First of all, they can say they are doing their civic duty all they want, but we all know the chance of being the most powerful person on the planet is seductive. Who wouldn’t like to have the power to make illegal drugs legal, prostitution a credible profession and corporal punishment a viable option for anyone dealing with a bureaucracy? However, just because you want to be the most powerful person of your day doesn’t mean you are equipped with the good sense or the ability to be the President of the United States. Thank goodness there is an election, where the public gets to decide if the candidate has integrity and character, apparently not a necessity, but it gives us a warm fuzzy. May the best faker win.
The truth is the person who would be best at being president would never run for the office. They would not seek power; they would seek to improve the human condition which requires being a truly charitable person. Unfortunately, while there may be some good candidates out there (according to them) none can claim to have true charity. As soon as one of them gives up everything or risks it all to help those less fortunate, they have got my vote.

Well said!! Every potential candidate has major flaws. I am tired of voting for “lesser of two evils”. When are we going to have a statesman and not just another politician!!
