Unlike the drug dealers of the past who were always on the rough shady site, current drug addicts come in all walks of life, all shapes and sizes.
I met Melanie (not her real name) at a church picnic; she is now a wife and lives a stable life. She is a lovely fair haired young woman, you never would consider her a drug user. Three years ago, she was a serious meth addict. “God has been good to me, ‘she says I got off of it.”
She is absolutely right, God has been good. 97% of Meth users are never cured. Meth changes your brain configuration and the function of things like emotions, brain patterns, and dreams. Only one time and Meth becomes a suddenly dominate factor in your
Cells. Many meth users who consider themselves “recreational users” do not realize that they are serious addicts, and that the every three week, or every six week “binge” is the typical sign of the brain malfunction which causes a serious addiction.
Melanies Story: I got on Meth because of my then boyfriend, and because I wanted to lose weight. I was told I could take it for two to three months, lose the weight, and then get off it. At the end of the three months, I realized I was seriously addicted, after I
called on the Lord to help me, I left the man I was with and he was my only connection to getting the drugs. The first year was terrible, Since I was not able or willing to get the drugs, I gradually changed my life. However, I still have dreams about taking meth, even after 3 years. I’d like to warn other young women who want to please their boyfriends or husbands by taking meth to lose weight to forget it, it’s not worth the risk and it’s not worth being with anyone who takes Meth or any other drug, including prescription drugs used recreationally.
The long withdrawal suffering is typical, because all of the brain and emotional patterning has been changed and needs to retrack, once a brain cell is dead it never recovers, the brain retracks functioning into other cells. If nerve tissue is damaged it heals at a ¼ inch per year. This is why people become paraplegics with
Spinal cord injuries, the nerves can’t heal fast enough to reconnect, and the person loses functioning below the injury.
There are no exceptions to the people who take meth, it changes the brain functioning In every person, every time. There is no motive, no reason, and no pain too great to justify destroying yourself one cell at a time, before you think you are an exception, think again while you still can.
