I have to admit since I hit my ?? birthday I have felt like an old car that needs to be traded in. You know the one, you’re afraid to kick the tires because they may fall off or that engine light is really the problem . . . the knock I hear isn’t the engine. Anyway, that kinda explains my philosophy of if I don’t know it doesn’t really exist.
This year has been quite an experience. First I go to the eye doctor and he tells me I need bifocals. Great. Then he tells me I’m right on time for my age. What’s that supposed to mean?
Next I have my teeth checked and long story short, we will be able to save them. Our viewing audience I’m sure is grateful. Why is it you start feeling like a horse? Oh well, whatever.
Next I get shamed into the obligatory mammogram, again because I’m at that age. Now I get to go back because the machine broke or something so they didn’t get the right picture or again whatever.
Silly me, I comment to my husband that I think I should have my blood pressure checked. I thought 60 million over 120 is good with a 20 thousand beat per minute pulse. Guess not. When the nurse tells you to stay she’ll be right back and is back before you can breathe this is not a good sign. Out comes the samples until you can actually get the appointment with the doctor to find out if you are going to live or not and out I go again.
What is this stuff anyway? Should I feel dizzy? My friend and cohort Kim says, OH! YOU NEED TO BE CAREFUL! THAT STUFF CAN REALLY MAKE YOU DIZZY! YOU COULD PASS OUT! Meanwhile my mother, the retired nurse anesthetist, acts like, “Why aren’t you hospitalized.” A little freaky to say the least!
I appear to be loosing my hair, hormonally imbalanced, mentally deficient, and a host of other things – so I come back to its time to trade in for the new model.
I just want to know do any of you feel the same way?
I still feel the same way . . . as Kim analogized, the 3 year old that says if I put the blanket over my head and can’t see it, it doesn’t exist. I just wonder if there is a big enough blanket to cover this.
Well, I’ll keep you all informed in the weeks ahead as I navigate through the maze. One thing’s for sure, at least my teeth look good.
