ON Semi Reports Record Earning and Stability in Pocatello

Posted on: August 07, 2008

ON Semiconductor just released its second quarter earnings. And they are way up. The man in charge of the facility in Pocatello says business at the semiconductor plant is now back to normal.

Bob Klosterboer is the ON Semiconductor vice president over the Pocatello operation. He says now that the dust has settled on the merger, workers aren’t feeling the uncertainty they felt initially.

ON’s reported earnings for the second quarter of this year were $562 million, a new record. That number is up 33% over the first quarter. Most of that increase is because of bringing AMI under the ON Semiconductor umbrella.

With the initial merger there was a loss of 50-60 jobs. There is also the expected loss of 150 jobs in about 18 months as ON shuts down the manufacturing known as Fab 9. But until that happens, Klosterboer says ON in Pocatello has reached a state of stability.
