- Motto of the UI Extension’s Idaho Master Gardner Program
The University of Idaho (UI) Extension’s Idaho Master Gardener Program provides gardeners with opportunities to improve their horticultural knowledge and skills as well as serve their communities.
Cooperative Extension is a national educational network designed to extend technical expertise and university research findings to students, which permits them to improve their homes, farms, businesses and communities. Cooperative Extension is the largest and considered the most successful educational organization in the world, and delivers programs that are modeled and duplicated worldwide.
Now that this year’s classroom curriculum has come to an end, the students of the Master Gardner Program are preparing to provide their expertise to the community.
One of the first of many community projects is the Bonneville County Courthouse Beautification Project. This Saturday, May 3, beginning at 11:00 am, Master Gardeners will be installing Mist Shrubs, Purple Leaf Sand Cherry Trees and Morden Blush Roses at the County Courthouse steps on Capitol in Downtown Idaho Falls. This landscape was to be installed last year, however logistical issues prevented the process until now. This event will kick-off the courthouse project, with several other plantings planned for the future. We invite you to witness the before and after effects of this project.
