Annual Fort Hall Replica Opening

Posted on: May 06, 2008

Facility Opens for the Season May 16, 2008

The Fort Hall Replica is opening for the season on May 16, 2008, and the public is invited to attend the opening festivities.

Admission for the opening is free from 2:00 p.m. until closing. The official ceremony begins at 5:00 p.m. and includes the crowning of the new Ms. Pocatello Heritage and Ms. Fort Hall Replica Heritage. The annual chili feed will follow.

In addition, the members of the Fort Hall Replica Commission will present the new vision of the replica complex landscaping layout, as designed by Myers-Anderson Architects. The plan enhances the current environment through the inclusion of native trees, bushes and wildflowers. Native plants played a significant role in the Native American culture and in the early historic exploration and settlement of our region. Many of the species selected have value as food or medicine and will provide children and adults with a tangible link to the past. New walkways and paths are also planned to reach the entire complex.
