Local Representatives to Accept Proclamations

Pocatello Mayor Roger Chase will be issuing two proclamations at the City Council Meeting this Thursday, May 15, 2008.

The first proclamation will actually be read in the morning in honor of Police Week (May 11 through 17) and Peace Officers Memorial Day (May 15). The Pocatello Police Department is holding a ceremony May 15 at 10:00 a.m. in front of City Hall. The proclamation recognizes those peace officers who, through their courageous deeds, have lost their lives or have become disabled in the performance of duty.

The second proclaims May 18 through 24 as Public Works Week, and representatives from the City’s public works departments will be present to accept. Public works services are an integral part of citizens’ everyday lives, but many times these contributions are taken for granted or overlooked. The proclamation encourages citizens to learn about public works, as well as recognize how public works services contribute daily to their health, safety, comfort and quality of life.
