Conference, Seminars and K-9 Competition Scheduled June 22-28, 2008
The Pocatello Police Department and the Idaho Police Canine Association (IPCA) are hosting the 2008 Annual IPCA conference, training seminar and police K-9 competition in Pocatello for the first time. The event is scheduled for June 22 through 28, 2008.
This annual event brings together police K-9 units from around the state of Idaho, units from neighboring state jurisdictions and some of the nation’s leading trainers and instructors for a full week of intense training and skill building. Approximately 80 police K-9 teams are expected to attend and participate in the seminar and competition. Participants will be using multiple training sites each day, and each site will be utilized by drug detection dogs, explosive detection dogs, tracking dogs, evidence dogs and patrol dogs.
The week long conference will be topped off by a trial competition on the last day at ISU Davis Field at 9:00 a.m. The general public is invited to attend to watch the work of these amazing K-9 officers and their human partners.
This event has been held in Coeur d’Alene, Boise, Twin Falls and Idaho Falls over the past decades, but this is the first time Pocatello has had the opportunity to be the host. The Police Department is excited to be able to show our community’s style of courtesy and hospitality.
For more information, contact Pocatello Police Officer Brian McClure at 234-6100. Officer McClure is also the current President of the Idaho Police Canine Association.
