Posted on: June 18, 2008

IDAHO FALLS— Wildland firefighters will experience the reality of fire at Soda Hills—near Soda Springs—with simulations that will prepare them for the upcoming 2008 fire season.

Wednesday, June 18th, the fire fighters will complete their annual power hike, fireline construction and simulated burnout operation.

Some hiking will be involved, so it is advised that reporters and/or photographers wear hiking boots or sturdy tennis shoes.

Fire information officers will meet in the EIIFC parking lot, 1405 Hollipark Drive, at 7 AM in order to commence activities in Soda Hills by 9 AM. Simulations should last 3-5 hours.

For further questions about this opportunity, please call Sonja Shadow at 208-709-2416.
