POCATELLO, ID: Beginning Tuesday, June 24, 2008, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Pocatello Field Office will close portions of the Blackfoot Reservoir Campground for two to three weeks for construction work at the site. At the campground, crews will be installing electrical pedestals at 14 campsites and adding four to six new shelters.
“The electrical pedestals and shelters will be a welcome new addition to the public at Blackfoot Reservoir,” said Blaine Newman, supervisory resource management specialist for the BLM Pocatello Field Office. “In the meantime while construction is underway, we apologize for any inconvenience this temporary closure may cause visitors and campers.”
Newman explained that Blackfoot Reservoir Campground has additional campsites and dispersed camping within the campground that will be available during construction. Also available are the nearby BLM Maple Grove and Red Point campgrounds.
This construction work is the last of the scheduled projects for the Blackfoot Reservoir Campground this year. Newsman said fees will be charged at the campground starting in the spring of 2009.
For more information on the temporary closure, please call the BLM Pocatello Field Office at (208) 478-6340.
