ISU Namesake Passes Away in Pocatello

Posted on: July 23, 2008

Family and friends remember the life of an 84-year-old man who passed away on Monday due to a sudden illness.

The Pond Student Union Building in Pocatello was not only named after Earl Pond, but it was also run by the namesake for a little over three decades.

Colleagues who knew him best say he was a permanent fixture at the university. Even after Pond retired, he still attended games and made a daily trek across the quad on his way home.

ISU’s Vice President says his legacy lives on.
