Big Southern Butte Lookout Closed to Public Access

IDAHO FALLS – The Upper Snake River Field Office of the Bureau of Land Management has closed the unmanned Big Southern Butte Lookout due to safety concerns after vandalism occurred over Memorial Weekend to the structure. The access road to Big Southern Butte will remain open, but officials are asking the public please stay away from the lookout due to broken glass. Law enforcement estimates the damage to the structure to be over $10,000. For more information, please contact your local BLM office at (208) 524-7500.
