IDAHO FALLS — The Bureau of Land Management and Caribou-Targhee National Forest have released for public commenting and review the pre-decisional Snake River Activity/Operations Plan Environmental Assessment (EA). This document will update the existing Snake River Plan of 1991.
The agencies are requesting your comments to assist them in developing a final plan for management of the river system over the next 10 to 15 years. A public open house meeting is scheduled for Thursday, October 11, 2007 from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the BLM/USFS office located at 1405 Hollipark Drive, Idaho Falls, Idaho (across from Action Motor Sports off of Lincoln Road). You may provide comments at the meeting, by emailing ID_SFork_Plan@blm.gov or mailing comments to: Monica Zimmerman, Upper Snake Field Office, 1405 Hollipark Drive, Idaho Falls, Idaho 83401.
An electronic version of the document may be found on the internet at: http://www.blm.gov/id/st/en/info/nepa.2.html. A CD or hard copy version of the document is also available by calling and requesting one at (208) 524-7500.
At this time, the agencies have preliminarily identified Alternative D as the preferred alternative for future management direction. However, your comments will be considered before a final alternative is selected.
Written, facsimile, hand-delivered, oral and electronic comments are welcome and will be accepted for 30 calendar days following publication of the legal notice in the Post Register Newspaper. Comments must meet the information requirements of 36 CFR 215.6. Only those who submit timely comments will be eligible to appeal the subsequent Forest Service Decision under 36 CFR 215. The publication date in the newspaper of record is the exclusive means for calculating the comment period for this proposal. You should not rely upon dates or timeframe information provided by any other source.
The office business hours for those submitting hand-delivered comments are: 8:00-4:30 Monday through Friday, excluding holidays and can be submitted at the BLM/USFS Office at 1405 Hollipark Drive, Idaho Falls or Palisades Ranger District Office 3659 East Ririe Highway, Idaho Falls, Idaho 83401. Each individual or representative from each organization submitting comments must either sign the comments or otherwise verify identity in order to attain appeal eligibility.
