Kate O’Connor has recently joined the staff at the Pocatello Zoo. Originally from northern California, Kate has spent nearly two decades working, volunteering or interning at various zoos and aquariums around the country. The organizations where she has worked or volunteered include: Six- Flags Vallejo in California, Sea Life Park in Hawaii, National Aquarium of Baltimore in Maryland, Sunset Zoo in Kansas, Cleveland Metroparks Zoo in Ohio, and most recently, the Jackson Zoological Park in Mississippi.
Predator control geared to benefit mule deer is based on an annual evaluation of mule deer populations, alternate prey, and environmental conditions.
The rules pertaining to the special season call for ice fishing only, no other methods are allowed. Without the ice, the season was effectively closed anyway, so that the end of March date is a mere formality.

Mr. Jones also has been extremely cooperative with state officials throughout this process,” Governor Otter said. “This resolution reflects my emphasis on dealing with difficult situations case by case, and on state government helping individuals achieve goals that serve the public interest and their own.”
