The theater originally opened its doors as “The Romance Theater” showing the movie “Top Hat” starring Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire the night the theater opened in 1935. Theater Chairperson Joanna Carter says “the Board of the theater would like to express their gratitude to the Many dedicated community businesses and residents that have donated numerous goods and countless service hours over the past year to “Bring Back the Romance.” We would like to invite all community members to come and enjoy a delightful evening and view the work that has been done thus far in order to provide Rexburg with a community stage.” The theater will continue to provide family entertainment with an emphasis in children’s arts. Sponsors of the event include: Great Harvest Bread, Edge Wireless, Americinn, Q102, Hard Hat Café, Lost Creek Steak Co, Heart Mind and Soul, and Dominos. Anyone interested in donating an auction item may contact Joanna at 709-0976. All proceeds will go to the continued restoration efforts of the Westwood/Romance Theater.
