    Nampa, Idaho Man Says Police Songs Are His

    Boise, Idaho — A Nampa man believes he’s the reason behind two of the most popular songs in rock and roll history.

    Roy Smith says “Roxanne” and “Message in a Bottle” — two of the biggest hits The Police ever wrote — were actually his ideas and he was promised royalties for the songs back in 1977.
