Governor And First Lady Mourn Passing Of Idaho Legend Louise Shadduck

Posted on: May 06, 2008

(BOISE) – Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter, vacationing out of state this week, issued the following statement today regarding Sunday’s passing of Louise Shadduck of Coeur d’Alene, a journalist, author, historian and former aide to Governors Len Jordan and Charles A. Robins, Senator Henry C. Dworshak and Congressman Orval Hansen. She was 92.

“It’s a sad day. Louise Shadduck was a great lady, a great friend and a great Idahoan. No one had more knowledge, insight or wisdom about our state or our people. Louise shared her energy and enthusiasm with everyone she met, and she inspired generations of people to get involved with public service. She led by example and made everyone around her want to be a better person and citizen. She was strong, smart and classy – someone who accomplished a lot in her life but knew that it only mattered if those accomplishments were about serving others. I valued her counsel more than I can say, and Lori and I will miss her dearly. We hope this time finds her family secure in the knowledge that she was loved, respected and admired by countless Idahoans who were better for having known her.”
