Danger of Sexual Orientation Laws

Posted on: May 10, 2008

We’ve often pointed out that granting special protections on the grounds of “sexual orientation” will eventually open the door to protections for pedophiles who claim that sex with children happens to be their particular “orientation.” Such a defense has already been tried in a Canadian court of law.

An English judge gave the cause a boost yesterday by letting a pedophile who had molested an 11-year-old girl off the hook on the grounds that the child had “welcomed” his advances, saying that the girl had a “sexual awareness” that would make someone twice her age blush.

The 20-year-old male groomed this child on an internet chat site even after being told by her that she was only 12 years old (she was actually 11 at the time).

He finally met the child during her school lunch break and tried unsuccessfully to rape her in a nearby alleyway.

The judge rejected an assessment by the probation service that the perpetrator posed a “high risk of serious harm to children” and refused to send him to jail.

Thus this judge has unilaterally lowered England’s age of consent for sex from 16 to the age of 11 (it’s 18 in Idaho under ordinary circumstances), and made it open season for child molesters in the United Kingdom.
